Salvador Dali had a habit of dining at expensive restaurants and, when the bill came, paying by check. On the back of each check, he would sketch a small original drawing. He knew that no bank teller or restaurant owner would ever cash a check with an original Dali on the back. They'd frame it instead. He reportedly ate for free this way for years.
