While filming the baseball-bat scene in The Shining, Stanley Kubrick made Shelley Duvall perform it 127 times, a Guinness record for most takes of a dialogue scene. Duvall screamed until her voice went raw, became severely dehydrated, and began losing her hair from stress. She reportedly handed Kubrick clumps of it at the end of a day's shoot. Years later she said: "I will never give that much again."
