Mark Twain was born in 1835, two weeks after Halley's Comet appeared. In 1909, he told a friend: "I came in with Halley's Comet. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it." He died on April 21, 1910, one day after the comet reached its closest point to the sun.
